What is the PRIDElist? Why does UT have one?
The PRIDElist is intended to raise the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community and its friends at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Complementing our campus focus on mattering and belonging, our goal is to ensure that our LGBTQ+ students feel welcome, supported, and at home here on Rocky Top.
With the PRIDElist, we want our LGBTQ+ students to know that they are not alone during their time here at Rocky Top, but in fact, are surrounded by faculty, staff, fellow students, and alums who care about their identities and are passionate about making UT a more inclusive place. We understand that signing the PRIDElist is not the only way to show identity or allyship and for a variety of reasons, people may prefer to show support for the LGBTQ+ community in other ways. Participation in the PRIDElist initiative is voluntary.
Anyone with a UT affiliation (faculty/staff, current student, and/or alum) can sign the list in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Those names gathered by September 25, 2019, will be published in October, in conjunction with LGBTQ+ History Month, through the Daily Beacon and online on the Pride Center’s website.
Vol is a Verb. We hope you will take a minute to add your name to the 2019 PRIDElist. Every name counts toward our ultimate goal of being welcoming to all and hostile to none.
Where will the PRIDElist be published and displayed? Does the list compromise anyone’s identity?
Signing onto the PRIDElist is completely voluntary. No one is added to the list by our staff—all names are gathered from the signature submission form. If you have signed the list and wish to be removed before publication, please email Bonnie Johnson at email@example.com as soon as possible before the signature deadline (September 25, 2019). The PRIDElist will be published in the Daily Beacon this October for LGBTQ+ History Month. It will also be posted on the Pride Center’s website and archived with the UT Libraries.

What are the PRIDElist posters around campus?
To promote the PRIDElist and increase visibility, we have created a matching poster campaign featuring members of the PRIDElist sharing their experiences of being openly/visibly LGBTQ+ and/or an ally. We hope they serve as reminders of the PRIDElist in addition to highlighting the amazing faculty, staff, students, and alums at UT.
Who is the main contact for the PRIDElist?
