Upcoming Events

We add new events and programs all the time! Check back frequently for updates and additional information.

The Pride Center strives to make all of our events as accessible as possible for our entire campus community. If you require accommodations to attend one of our events, have a suggestion on how to make our programming even more accessible, or have concerns about an event, please feel free to email us at pridecenter@utk.edu with your feedback.

Fall 2019

Are you:

  • a new student, faculty, or staff member at UTK?
  • a returning student, faculty, or staff member but unfamiliar with the Pride Center?
  • always saying that you keep meaning to stop by the Center but never do?

If any of these (or more!) describe you, join us at our fall open house at the Pride Center from 4pm-6pm and check out our community space, resources, and meet our staff!

We are inviting all LGBTQ+ and ally graduate students to our monthly coffee and pastry mixer! We supply the food and drink, you enjoy great conversation and community building.

When: September 19, October 24, and November 12 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: Mary Greer Room, Hodges Library

Join the Pride Center and Active Minds for a panel discussion by LGBTQ+ students on mental health. Hear from others about their experiences dealing with mental health, seeking services,  accessibility barriers, how other marginalized identities interact with the perception of therapy, and more. We will have free food!

When: October 8 from 6 pm – 7:30 pm
Where: Student Union 362A/B

Join the Pride Center and the Voices Out Loud Project for an exploration of Knoxville’s Queer History. We will have a tabling fair with primary source documents and historical items, as well as light refreshments beforehand with a panel discussion and presentation at 7 pm.

When: October 9 from 6 pm – 8:30 pm
Where: Lindsey Young Auditorium, first floor Hodges Library

Every year the Pride Center hosts an ice cream social in honor of National Coming Out Day, celebrated annually on October 11. While being “out” is definitely a privilege and we encourage folks to make their own decisions about coming out, we still celebrate the power and importance of visibility in shifting attitudes and norms around gender and sexuality.

The entire campus community is invited to celebrate and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. We hope to see you there!

When: October 11 from 4 pm – 6 pm
Where: Strong Hall Atrium

Join the Pride Center and the Commission for LGBT People for a panel and open discussion with LGBTQ+ folks of various identities, ages, narratives, and experiences to break down our conceptions about community and our identities. Different generations may view such topics like coming out, living openly, identity formation, and identity terms (among many others!) in very contrasting ways–and maybe some similarities too! Refreshments will be available, and everyone interested in learning more is welcome to attend!

When: October 23 from 12pm – 1:30pm
Where: Student Union 362A/B

We are inviting all LGBTQ+ and ally graduate students to our monthly coffee and pastry mixer! We supply the food and drink, you enjoy great conversation and community building.

When: September 19, October 24, and November 12 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: Mary Greer Room, Hodges Library

Graduating next spring but feeling unsure of how to land your dream job AND be your most authentic self? Struggling to “translate” your LGBTQ+ advocacy and activism experience onto a resume? Navigating applying for jobs and taking your next career steps as a trans/nonbinary person? Join the Pride Center and the Center for Career Development as we tackle all of these issues and more! Refreshments will be served.

When: October 30 from 11am – 1pm
Where:
Student Union 262B/C

Mark your calendars for this year’s Friendsgiving Potluck Dinner! Not everyone can go home for the holidays or be their authentic selves when they go home, so we offer a space of celebration and gratitude for celebrating our chosen families here at UT. Stay tuned for a food sign-up sheet in a few months!
