Discussion Groups

The Pride Center’s discussion groups are peer-facilitated, identity-based groups for students to connect with each other in a closed space. What groups are offered each semester depends entirely on the availability and facilitation interest of LGBTQ+ students at UTK. Since they are peer-led, our staff are unable to facilitate or host additional identity groups.

Historically, the Pride Center has offered discussion groups for the following identities:

  • Asexual and Aromantic
  • Bisexual and Pansexual
  • Transgender and Nonbinary
  • Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC)
  • QueerAbility (at the intersection of LGBTQ+ and ability/disability)

As of Spring 2019 due to facilitator availability, we currently offer the following groups:

  • Bisexual and Pansexual
  • Transgender and Nonbinary
  • QTPOC — gathering interest for this!

Are you interested in leading a discussion group that is not currently offered? Email Bonnie Johnson (she/her/hers), Pride Center Coordinator, at expressing your interest and qualifications.
